Adjustable Bed Manufacturing Process: From Steel Frame to Final QC
Understanding how an adjustable bed is actually built helps you judge a factory on a visit, ask better questions, and spot where corners get cut.
Here is the standard production flow for an electric adjustable bed, with the quality gates that separate a reliable factory from a risky one.
The seven-stage production flow
A typical electric adjustable bed moves through fabrication, finishing, assembly, and testing before it is packed.
- 1. Steel frame fabrication — cutting and bending carbon steel tube into frame sections.
- 2. Welding — jig-welding sections for repeatable geometry; the base is the bed's skeleton.
- 3. Surface finishing — powder coating or plating to resist corrosion and handling wear.
- 4. Actuator and electronics integration — mounting motors, wiring, and the control box.
- 5. Upholstery and padding — wrapping the frame in fabric, tech leather, or a full mattress.
- 6. Function and load testing — cycling head/foot movement under load and checking electrical safety.
- 7. Packaging — retail or bulk packing with the right protection for the shipping lane.
Where defects actually come from
Most adjustable bed failures trace to three places: poor welding (frame noise and wobble), underspecified actuators (motor stall and burnout), and weak wiring (intermittent control). A factory that tests at each of these stages, not just at the end, will have far fewer field failures.
What to look for on a factory visit
- Welding jigs and fixtures (repeatable geometry), not freehand welds.
- An actuator and electronics test station on the line.
- A defined in-process QC gate, not only a final check.
How KCAI approaches this
KCAI runs an integrated production flow in a 25,000 m² Dongguan facility, with 50+ engineers and over two decades of actuator experience. Frames are built on jigs, and each bed is functionally tested before it is packed.
Frequently asked questions
How long does production take?+
A standard first order is about 30 days after sample approval, depending on customization; re-orders are usually around 20 days.
Can I get photos or video of the production line?+
Yes — ask the factory for line and QC photos, and request a live or recorded factory tour before committing.
